Winter 2022-2023

This winter, take advantage of the ski resort’s wide array of well-rounded dining options. From Michelin-starred experiences to the inevitable après-ski, you’re sure to find your happiness in the mountains, where distinctive Alpine flavours and environmental responsibility unite.

Gastronomy experiences with a mountain backdrop
At the base of the Savoleyres cable car, a bright star – awarded by the Michelin Guide – shines at La Table d’Adrien. Chef Sebastiano Lombardi oversees the ovens, which expertly blend mountain inspiration with the seas and rivers for the restaurant’s signature Italian-French-Swiss dishes. The décor embraces chalet ambiance in all of its cosy intimacy. A similar marriage between warm wood and refined flavours can also be found at Restaurant La Cordée, in a menu of invigorating regional dishes with a dash of international zest. Another high-end address in Verbier is the W Kitchen, operating under Chef Emiliano Vignoni, who honed his expertise most notably at El Bulli (Spain), which offers a masterfully crafted molecular dining experience. And don’t forget about 22, which plays upon the clandestine speakeasys that sprouted up in the US during Prohibition, by having guests enter through a hidden door (reservations required). 22’s semi-gastronomic experience is a culinary adventure of local products sourced in an ecologically responsible fashion.

Slide into the end of the day and refuel
You can’t talk about a ski resort without a nod to the sacred après-ski experience. Much more than a simple box to check, Verbier is home to some of the best après-ski watering holes, which are usually jam packed with sun-kissed smiles. Refuel at the iconic Horseshoe (Fer à Cheval to the locals) with pizzas, lasagne, meat dishes, cheese, and burgers. Located near the Médran cable car, it rubs shoulders with the Pub Mont-Fort, which boasts its own delightful menu of French fries, tapas and burgers- enough to satiate any after ski appetite! Le Rouge – located at the foot of the run by the same name – is both a popular restaurant and après-ski destination, with grand festivities to accompany your afternoon drinks that liken it to “Ibiza in the snow.” Whether you say cheers or santé, the apéro aperitif in Verbier knows no boundaries!

Always higher (and always more cheese)
News of Verbier’s culinary delights travels far and wide, no matter the altitude. La Marlénaz is preceded by its reputation for panoramic snow-covered views of the Grand Combin massif, its fondues, and röstis. The same goes for La Marmotte, nestled in the Planards, above Verbier, which is known for its local specialty platters of cured meats and aged cheeses. Both La Marlénaz and Chez Dany, which is in the village of Clambin, make it possible for you to ride sleds back down to Verbier (and you can always Cat Ski for the way up!). Back in the village, next to the movie theatre, the Caveau deserves a detour for its delicious house-aged cheeses and smooth fondues, which the restaurant has proudly been preparing for more than 50 years. The Dahu, located in La Chaux, offers excellent mixed plates that can be followed up with a walk back to the village or a cable car ride, depending on timing and your energy levels. Lastly, one can’t forget Black Tap, which proudly offers New York burgers at 3,000 meters of altitude!

Welcoming tables for friends and family
Looking for a place to take family or friends? La Pergola’s generous and flavour-filled menu brings a true taste of Italy to Verbier- the spaghetti is dished up in metres (have as much as you want) and served with 6 different sauces. If you’re looking for something spicier, try heading to Gunpowder, which is known for its curries and its extensive gin menu (which naturally lends itself to a host of delightful cocktails). And lastly, if you’re looking for a complete change of scenery, Taratata takes you into the heart of the jungle where the meat is the star of the show. The restaurant’s lush, oversized servings are sure to satisfy even the hungriest person in your group.
