Conservatory & Botanical Garden
10 organic years
The largest public botanical garden in Switzerland is preparing to celebrate a decade of organic farming. Pesticides and artificial fertilizers were eliminated at the garden in 2015 to meet the requirements of the BioSuisselabel, which they proudly achieved 2 years later. It was a first in the country and a huge challenge for the gardeners who had to adapt their approach to be more environmentally friendly… without endangering any of the 15,000 plants (some rare) in the Botanical Garden collection. To leave nothing to chance, the conservatory even powers its buildings with renewable energy and uses recycled rainwater.
