Development
Well before dawn, amateur photographers gather at the Kirchbrücke bridge to setup their tripods in the hopes of capturing the Matterhorn in all of its glory. In high season, the selfie-taking crowd has become so large that it has at times spilled into the road, causing traffic delays. That will no longer be the case thanks to an enlarged panoramic viewing platform built in summer 2019. The platform’s metal staircase has additionally been replaced by an elevator that connects the embankment to the belvedere, which can now even be accessed by bike.
