IWC Schaffhausen wins the “Aiguille d’or” Grand Prix

Watchmaking excellence was celebrated in due style on Wednesday 13 November 2024 at the eagerly awaited Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) awards ceremony, hosted by French actress Carole Bouquet.

The GPHG Academy and the 2024 Jury chaired by Nick Foulkes paid tribute to the dynamism, the expertise and the creativity of contemporary watchmaking by awarding 21 prizes, including the prestigious “Aigiuille d’Or” Grand Prix which went to IWC Schaffhausen for the Portugieser Eternal Calendar watch.

The Berneron, Bernhard Lederer, Bovet 1822, Chopard, Daniel Roth, De Bethune, H. Moser & Cie, Kudoke, Laurent Ferrier, Massena Lab, Ming, Otsuka Lotec, Piaget, Rémy Cools, Van Cleef & Arpels and Voutilainen brands also received awards from the Jury and the Academy for the quality of their creations in various categories.

The Special Jury Prize, which rewards a key figure or institution in the watchmaking world, was attributed this year to artisanal watch casemaker Jean-Pierre Hagmann.

The 90 nominated timepieces, including the 20 winners, are on display at the Musée Rath in Geneva until 17 November. The laureates of this year's competition will also be presented from 21 to 23 November in the Central University Library of Bucharest.
