Beaumier is delighted to have recruited this experienced hotelier for the highly anticipated opening of the first hotel in the collection in Switzerland in the summer of 2024.

25 years ago, this former travel agent went into the hotel business. Since then, Maurer has consistently followed his path and has never regretted his decision. On the contrary, in Wengen, this Swiss design enthusiast takes on a new challenge with a smile and brings with him a wealth of experience and a passion for exceptional guest experiences. His career path, which has taken him to the neighbouring valley in the Swiss Alps via a number of General Manager positions in renowned establishments in California and Hamburg, reflects his passion for providing guests with unforgettable moments. Most recently, Lorenz Maurer has demonstrated his flair for the luxury and leisure market as General Manager of the design hotel The Cambrian. Since September 2023, he has been Area General Manager at the new Grand Hotel Belvedere.

This is how Lorenz Maurer describes the reasons why he chose the hotel business: "I love being in contact with people more than anything. I get just as much pleasure out of welcoming our guests to exceptional hotels that guarantee total disconnection and unforgettable memories, as I do out of providing my team with a pleasant working environment that always motivates them to give their best." Even after so many years in the industry, he remains determined to continue developing. "A beautiful hotel is not enough," he stresses. "It's just as important to have passionate staff who enjoy working together all year round. His ambition for the Grand Hotel Belvedere in Wengen is clearly defined. "In Wengen, as Area General Manager, I want to gather around me a talented team capable of bringing this hotel to life while filling it with a contagious, authentic joy that also excites our guests," says Maurer. "Places like this are still lacking in Switzerland. With his vision based on the achievement of pleasing others, Lorenz Maurer will bring the long history of the Grand Hotel Belvedere in Wengen into the present, while setting new standards of hospitality and service.

About the Grand Hôtel Belvédère
In summer 2024, the French Beaumier hotel group will open its first hotel in Switzerland - the Grand Hotel Belvédère. The arrival by historic cogwheel train with views of the surrounding peaks is already a highlight, as the mountain village of Wengen is car-free.

Located on the outskirts of the Alpine village, nestled in a vast mountainside garden with a private forest, the hotel will offer 71 rooms and 19 suites overlooking the Lauterbrunnen valley and will be the resort's first five-star establishment. The two buildings that make up the hotel have been completely renovated by the Swiss architecture and interior design firm Complete Works, in collaboration with Valéry Clavien. The interior highlights the handcrafted heritage of the Bernese Oberland and combines traditional Alpine style with elegant minimalism. To create a soothing atmosphere in harmony with the surrounding mountains, natural materials are used throughout - from spruce parquet flooring to thick woollen textiles and green granite bathrooms. The two restaurants, the Brasserie Belvedere and the Waldrand restaurant, will take the best traditions of Swiss cuisine and reinterpret them with contemporary accents and techniques. The newly created spa, a concrete building inspired by Brutalism, will harmonise with the meditative calm of the forest. The spacious wellness area will feature five treatment rooms, two saunas, a hammam and a Japanese onsen-style indoor and outdoor infinity pool. As well as skiing, guests at the Grand Hotel Belvedere can enjoy tailor-made Beaumier experiences such as guided tours, mountain biking and climbing, yoga, meditation and Pilates, as well as live music with the hotel DJ.
