Audemars Piguet celebrates the art of watchmaking
with dedicated reference book
To mark the brand’s 150th anniversary, Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacturer Audemars Piguet is pleased to unveil a new book dedicated to the history and the anatomy of the watch. Published by Flammarion, the nearly 600-page volume appeals to the curious, enthusiasts and professionals alike, combining technical expertise with historical insights and anecdotes. Titled The Watch - Stories and Savoir Faire, the book pays tribute to the rich tradition of watchmaking and to the artisans and visionaries who have kept the heart of the Manufacture beating for 150 years.
A celebration of horological savoir-faire
Taking readers behind the scenes of Haute Horlogerie, The Watch – Stories and Savoir Faire offers an educational and engaging look at the many components that make up a timepiece – from the dial, case and strap to inricate movements and complications – interlaced with interviews, photographs, illustrations and archival documents.
The result of a collective effort involving a dozen writers and over forty multidisciplinary contributors, the project reflects the spirit of collaboration that has long defined the watchmaking industry. Under the artistic direction of Flammarion publishing house, the book shines a light on the many techniques and specialised skills involved in bringing a watch to life.
By giving a voice to the experts, including suppliers, artisans, technicians, designers, engineers and more – Audemars Piguet pays homage to those who have shaped the brand and have continually pushed the boundaries of Haute Horlogerie.
“I wish this book had existed when I first discovered watchmaking. It’s exactly what I would have given my friends and colleagues – not only as an introduction to mechanical watches, but as an invaluable resource to accompany them on their journey in the field.”
Sébastian Vivas, Director of Heritage and Museum, Audemars Piguet

We are delighted to support Audemars Piguet in bringing this knowledge to life. And what better moment to release such a work than the year that marks the 150th anniversary of both our publishing house and the Manufacture?”
