A NEW CABLE CAR TO ROTHORN
Despite setbacks from Covid and (inevitable) minor delays, the Zermatt Bergbahnen is set to inaugurate a new 10-seater gondola just in time for the 2020-2021 season. This lift will be the first entirely automatic installation in Switzerland and will connect Tufternkehr to Rothorn via an intermediate station in Wyss Gufer (3.2 km). With a transport capacity of 1,500 skiers per hour, waiting times will be reduced and the northernmost region of the ski area will be easier to access. If that wasn’t enough, the new infrastructure even has an integrated artificial snow system.
