The new Matterhorn glacier ride
After three long years of planning and construction, the new 3S cableway connecting Trockener Steg (2,939 m) and the KleinMatterhorn (3,883 m) is finally open. This is Europe’s highest-altitude high-performance tramway and it uses the latest technologies to ensure an exceptionally smooth ride. Up to 2000 people per hour can take the 7.5 m per second journey (a 9-minute ride in total). The extra large windows in certain cabins offer the ultimate in panoramic views, while four of the cabins have been decorated in thousands of Swarovski crystals for a truly sparkling mountain experience!
