Winter 2022-2023

Too many people doing Chamonix-Zermatt? Fair enough. The new Haute-Route St. Bernard variant, linking the Aosta Valley and the Val de Bagnes, offers a beautifully remote alternative. The itinerary, culminating at 3,700 m, revolves around Grand Combin and Mont Vélan, over six days from Saint-Rhémy-en-Bosses (IT) to Bourg-Saint-Pierre (CH), via the mythical Great St Bernard Pass, the Corbassière Glacier, and the mountain huts in Plan du Jeu, Vélan, Panossière, and Chanrion (which is brand new and very comfortable). It’s worth noting that no fewer than 40 ski touring itineraries have been developed in parallel between Valais and the Aosta Valley. Get your climbing skins ready!
